Forty boxes, one rotunda: staging In Plain Sight
Forty pieces came out of the vault this spring, most of them never exhibited. Here is what it takes to get them onto a wall.
Forty boxes came up from the vault in March, and not one of them had been opened since the last registrar retired.
Staging a show from a collection nobody has fully catalogued is less curation than archaeology. You open a box, you find a work, and then you spend a week working out who made it, when, and how it came to be in Anderson.
What you are seeing in the rotunda is the result of that week, repeated forty times.
